We're declaring a state of emergency on American Democracy with a 700-mile walk over 50 days from Atlanta, Georgia to Washington, D.C. Our demand? Fix the corrupt political system.
We'll begin on Tuesday, August 6th — the 54th anniversary of the 1965 Voting Rights Act — in Atlanta, the final resting place of Dr. King and where the infamous 2018 election purges and voter suppression made the state ground zero in our fight.
We plan to arrive in D.C. on September 21, 2019. There, we will sit on the steps of the Capitol building. If our demands are not met, we will turn our focus to the presidential candidates, getting them to commit to reform.
If they arrest us, we will pay our bail and return. Not just because it's the people's Capitol building, but because the people have spoken: over 80% of American voters want reform.
The verdict couldn't be any clearer: it's time for the government to represent us.
